Description

A patriotic twist on the classic Caprese salad, arranged to resemble the American flag using fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 4 large red tomatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. On a large rectangular platter, arrange blueberries in the top left corner to form the star section of the flag.
  2. Create alternating rows of sliced mozzarella and tomatoes to represent the stripes of the flag.
  3. Tuck fresh basil leaves between some of the tomato and mozzarella slices.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze just before serving.
  5. Season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Notes
