Ingredients

  • 1 (1/2″) piece fresh ginger, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 2 (3″) cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) apple cider
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 lemon
  • 4 oz. (120 ml) beef bourbon
  • Apple or lemon slices, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the ginger, cinnamon, apple cider, honey, and cayenne (if desired) over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from the heat, cover the pan, and let it steep for 10 minutes.
  2. Use a slotted spoon to take out the ginger and cinnamon and discard them. Warm the cider again over medium heat until it starts to steam.
  3. Pour the cider equally into two mugs. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the mugs. Add the bourbon and stir to mix. Decorate with apple slices (if desired) and cinnamon sticks.
