Soft and fluffy homemade apple cinnamon rolls filled with fresh apples and topped with a creamy frosting.
Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
- 1 cup warm milk
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 2–3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- For the frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Heavy cream to desired consistency
Instructions
- If using active dry yeast, proof it in warm milk (around 110°F) with a pinch of sugar.
- Mix dry ingredients in a stand mixer or bread machine.
- Add wet ingredients and knead until smooth and elastic.
- Let dough rise in a warm place (75-80°F) until doubled.
- Roll out dough, fill with apple mixture, and roll up.
- Cut into rolls and place in baking pan.
- Let rise again until puffy.
- Bake until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 190°F.
- Cool slightly before frosting.
Notes
- Can substitute instant yeast for active dry yeast in equal amounts.
- Best apple varieties: Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Pink Lady.
- For dairy-free version, use plant-based butter, almond milk, and coconut cream.
- Use a thermometer to ensure proper liquid temperature for yeast.
- Can be made in stand mixer with dough hook or bread machine on dough cycle.
