Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a small saucepan, combine diced apples, brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes until apples are slightly softened. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the cooked apple mixture.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the center of the waffle iron and close the lid.
- Cook until golden brown and crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm waffle donuts and serve immediately.
