Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Your choice of fruit jam for filling

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar until foamy
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl
  3. Add egg yolks, melted butter, and vanilla to the yeast mixture
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough
  5. Knead until smooth and elastic
  6. Let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour)
  7. Roll out dough and cut into circles
  8. Let shaped dough rise again for 30 minutes
  9. Fry in oil at 350°F until golden brown
  10. Fill with jam and dust with powdered sugar
