  • Author: Anele
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing summer twist on the classic Caprese salad featuring sweet strawberries, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic reduction.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced into rounds
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat and cook for about 5 minutes until reduced by half and slightly thickened. Set aside to cool.
  2. Arrange alternating slices of strawberries and mozzarella on a serving platter.
  3. Scatter fresh basil leaves over the arranged strawberries and mozzarella.
  4. Drizzle the cooled balsamic reduction and olive oil over the arrangement.
  5. Season with a pinch of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe, in-season strawberries.
  • Fresh mozzarella works better than processed varieties for this recipe.
  • The balsamic reduction can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
  • This salad is best assembled just before serving.
