A comforting casserole inspired by the iconic Big Mac burger, bringing familiar flavors into a satisfying meal.

- 1 lb lean ground beef (96/4)
- 1 lb russet potatoes, chopped
- 1/2 white onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
- 1 tbsp dill pickle juice
- 1 vine tomato, chopped
- Handful white onions, chopped
- Handful shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/4 cup dill pickle chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash and chop the russet potatoes into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the chopped potatoes and water to the hot oil, season with salt and pepper, and cook until softened (5-10 minutes).
- Move the softened potatoes into a baking dish.
- In the same pan, add the ground beef and onions, cooking until the beef is mostly done and the onions are softened.
- Season the mixture with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and yellow mustard. Stir to combine.
- Combine the beef mixture with the potatoes in the baking dish and mix them together.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, cover with foil, and bake for 15 minutes.
- While the casserole bakes, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped pickles, and dill pickle juice, and store in the fridge.
- Once the casserole is ready, remove it from the oven, take off the foil, and drizzle the Big Mac sauce over the top.
- Garnish with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, chopped white onions, and dill pickle chips.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding diced bell peppers or corn. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
