- 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat or oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and minced garlic to make the sauce.
- Pat chicken thighs dry and rub with olive oil.
- For grilling: Place chicken skin-side down on the grill for 5-7 minutes until skin begins to crisp. Flip and brush with sauce. Continue cooking for 25-30 minutes, brushing with sauce occasionally until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- For baking: Place chicken skin-side up on a baking sheet. Brush with sauce and bake for 35-40 minutes until done, basting halfway through.
- Let chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
- Make sure to cook the chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- This recipe works well with both grilling and baking methods.
