Description

Warm and comforting cabbage rolls stuffed with a savory mix of Italian sausage, ground beef, and rice, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cabbage leaves and blanch for 2-3 minutes until tender. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
  4. In a bowl, combine the Italian sausage, ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Take each cabbage leaf and fill it with a spoonful of the meat mixture, rolling tightly and tucking in the sides to secure the filling.
  6. Place the rolled cabbage in a baking dish, seam side down. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Use fresh cabbage for best results. Taste-test the filling before rolling for seasoning adjustments.
