- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cabbage leaves and blanch for 2-3 minutes until tender. Remove and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and garlic until fragrant.
- In a bowl, combine the Italian sausage, ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion and garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Take each cabbage leaf and fill it with a spoonful of the meat mixture, rolling tightly and tucking in the sides to secure the filling.
- Place the rolled cabbage in a baking dish, seam side down. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Use fresh cabbage for best results. Taste-test the filling before rolling for seasoning adjustments.
