Ingredients

  • 2 large lemons
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Optional: additional sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Slice the lemons into thin rounds, removing seeds if necessary.
  2. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves over medium heat.
  3. Once the sugar is dissolved, add the lemon slices to the saucepan.
  4. Simmer the lemon slices in the syrup for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, turning them occasionally until they become translucent.
  5. Remove the slices from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to cool.
  6. Once cooled, you can roll them in additional sugar for a sweeter finish if desired.
  7. Allow them to dry completely before using as a garnish.

Notes

Use organic lemons for a better flavor. Adjust cooking time based on thickness of lemon slices.
