- 2 large lemons
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Optional: additional sugar for coating
Instructions
- Slice the lemons into thin rounds, removing seeds if necessary.
- In a saucepan, combine water and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves over medium heat.
- Once the sugar is dissolved, add the lemon slices to the saucepan.
- Simmer the lemon slices in the syrup for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, turning them occasionally until they become translucent.
- Remove the slices from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to cool.
- Once cooled, you can roll them in additional sugar for a sweeter finish if desired.
- Allow them to dry completely before using as a garnish.
Notes
Use organic lemons for a better flavor. Adjust cooking time based on thickness of lemon slices.
