Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a loaf pan with butter or cooking spray for easy release.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder if using.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, distributing it evenly throughout.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, beaten egg, and melted butter until smooth. Add honey if desired.
  6. Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring gently until just blended.
  7. Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Sprinkle a little extra cheddar cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
