Ingredients

  • Tomato paste, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 grams)
  • Mustard, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 grams)
  • Tomato sauce, 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 milliliters)
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded, 2 cups (480 ml) (200 grams)
  • Macaroni pasta, 2 cups (480 ml) (200 grams)
  • Water, 1 cup (240 ml) (240 milliliters)
  • Olive oil, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni pasta according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until onions are translucent.
  5. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  6. Season the beef with salt and black pepper, stirring to combine.
  7. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, mustard, and ketchup.
  8. Add water and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  9. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Combine the cooked macaroni with the beef mixture in the skillet.
  11. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  12. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
