Description
A comforting cheesy hamburger casserole that combines lean ground beef, elbow macaroni, and cheddar cheese for a delicious family meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian herbs
Instructions
- In your skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
- Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni, diced tomatoes (with juice), and beef broth, mixing thoroughly.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian herbs. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Fold in half of the shredded cheddar cheese until it melts.
- Transfer the mixture into an oven-safe dish, top with the remaining cheese, and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using a blend of cheeses. If casserole turns out too dry, add more beef broth.
