Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 pound large shells pasta
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 cup jarred salsa
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cheese for topping
- Crushed tortilla chips for crunch
- Sour cream to serve
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the large shells pasta according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Brown the meat, breaking it apart until no longer pink.
- Drain excess fat, leaving about 1-2 tablespoons, and then add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for about 1 minute.
- Add taco seasoning, dried oregano, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper. Pour in 3/4 cup of water and cook until the water evaporates.
- Mix in the cooked pasta, jarred salsa, and shredded cheese. Stir until well combined and the cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately, topped with extra cheese, crushed tortilla chips, sour cream, and chopped parsley.
Notes
For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or jalapeños. You can also substitute the ground beef with turkey or chicken.
