- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk, room temperature
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine the baking powder, salt, and flour. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool before cutting into squares.
