Description
Deliciously chewy cookies with a rich caramel flavor, perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and brown sugar until creamy and smooth (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Once the dough has chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls, then roll each ball in granulated sugar.
- Arrange the cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden and centers remain soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough enhances the flavors and improves texture. For chewier cookies, adjust baking times as needed.
