Description
A delicious one-pot Chicken Marsala Orzo with tender chicken pieces, mushrooms, and creamy orzo pasta infused with Marsala flavors.

- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/2 cup Marsala wine or grape juice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove to a plate.
- Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add mushrooms and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 2 minutes.
- Pour in Marsala wine or grape juice, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let simmer until reduced by half.
- Add orzo pasta and stir to coat in the sauce.
- Pour in chicken broth, return chicken to the pan, and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender and chicken is cooked through.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until creamy and combined.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, use Marsala wine. For an alcohol-free version, substitute with grape juice.
- You can use chicken thighs instead of breasts for more flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- When reheating, add a splash of broth or cream if the dish seems dry.
