Description

A hearty and flavorful dish combining tender orzo, savory chicken sausage, and vibrant broccoli, garnished with Parmesan cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5–7 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in broccoli florets, cooking for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  4. Add orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  5. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until creamy. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For added creaminess, stir in a splash of heavy cream before serving. You can also swap out broccoli for other vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
