Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium cabbage, shredded
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the beef and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add shredded cabbage to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until it begins to soften.
  5. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Add red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  6. Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce and check that your oyster sauce is gluten-free.
  • Vegetarian option: Substitute ground beef with crumbled tofu or plant-based ground meat.
  • Add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for extra color and nutrition.
  • Serve over rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
