  • Instant yeast, 2 1/4 teaspoons (11 ml) (7 grams)
  • Granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (25 grams)
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) (5 grams)
  • Warm water, 3/4 cup (180 ml) (180 milliliters)
  • Baking soda, 1/4 cup (60 ml) (60 grams)
  • Hot water, 4 cups (960 ml) (960 milliliters)
  • Vegetable oil, melted, 1/4 cup (60 ml) (56 grams)
  • Ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) (2 grams)
  • Brown sugar, 1/2 cup (120 ml) (100 grams)
  • Powdered sugar, 1 cup (240 ml) (120 grams)
  • Fruit syrup, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 milliliters)
  • Milk, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 milliliters)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. Add warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into four equal parts.
  7. Roll each part into a rope about 1/2 inch thick.
  8. Cut each rope into 1-inch pieces to form pretzel bites.
  9. In a pot, dissolve baking soda in 4 cups of hot water.
  10. Dip each pretzel bite into the baking soda solution for 10-15 seconds, then place on the baking sheet.
  11. Bake the pretzel bites in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  12. While the pretzel bites bake, mix melted butter, ground cinnamon, and brown sugar in a small bowl.
  13. Remove the baked pretzel bites from the oven and brush them with the cinnamon sugar butter mixture.
  14. To make the maple dip, combine powdered sugar, pure maple syrup, and milk in a bowl.
  15. Whisk the maple dip ingredients until smooth and well combined.
  16. Serve the cinnamon sugar pretzel bites warm with the maple dip on the side.

Notes

  • Consider using brown sugar for a richer flavor in the dough.
  • Enhance cinnamon flavor by sprinkling ground cinnamon on top before baking.
  • Adjust maple dip sweetness with more or less powdered sugar to taste.
