Instructions
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Gradually add sugar and salt, stirring continuously to combine.
- Keep stirring, allowing the mixture to come to a gentle boil.
- Attach the candy thermometer and monitor it closely.
- Cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract.
- Fold in the chopped nuts and mix evenly.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Allow cooling until hardened, about 30–60 minutes.
- Optional: Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled toffee.
