Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • Optional: 1 cup chocolate chips for drizzling or dipping

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Gradually add sugar and salt, stirring continuously to combine.
  3. Keep stirring, allowing the mixture to come to a gentle boil.
  4. Attach the candy thermometer and monitor it closely.
  5. Cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  6. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Fold in the chopped nuts and mix evenly.
  8. Pour the hot toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  9. Allow cooling until hardened, about 30–60 minutes.
  10. Optional: Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the cooled toffee.
