- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- Beat in egg yolks and vanilla extract
- Gradually mix in flour and salt until combined
- Pipe or shape cookies onto baking sheets
- Chill for 30 minutes
- Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes until edges are slightly golden
Notes
- Can make without piping bag by rolling into balls and flattening
- Chill dough if spreading occurs during baking
- Add food coloring when creaming butter and sugar if desired
- Watch for slightly golden edges – don’t overbake
- Different from shortbread due to egg yolks and higher sugar content
