  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
  • 8 slices of bread (preferably thick-cut)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) unsalted butter

  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Mix in granulated sugar.
  5. Add ground cinnamon and salt to the mixture.
  6. Whisk all ingredients until well combined.
  7. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  8. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet, melting it evenly.

  11. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  12. Flip the bread and cook the other side until golden brown.
  13. Repeat with remaining slices of bread, adding butter as needed.
  14. Warm maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat.
  15. Serve French toast hot with warmed maple syrup drizzled on top.

Notes
