Description
Tender, fall-off-the-bone beef ribs slow-cooked with a sweet and tangy Coca-Cola glaze that caramelizes beautifully in the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks beef back ribs (about 4–5 pounds)
- 2 cups Coca-Cola (not diet)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Season ribs generously with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, combine Coca-Cola, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Place ribs in a large roasting pan and pour the Coca-Cola mixture over them. Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake for 3 hours, or until the meat begins to pull away from the bones but doesn’t completely fall off (internal temperature 190-203°F).
- Remove foil, baste ribs with the sauce from the pan, and continue cooking uncovered for 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes to build up the glaze.
- Let ribs rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with additional sauce from the pan if desired.
Notes
- For best results, let the ribs marinate in the Coca-Cola mixture overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
- You can substitute beef back ribs with pork ribs if preferred.
- For a smokier flavor, add 1-2 teaspoons of liquid smoke to the glaze mixture.
- The sauce can be reduced on the stovetop for a thicker consistency if desired.
