Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup (300 ml) s all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240 ml) old-fashioned oats
  • 2 cup (480 ml) s flaked coconut
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) salt
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) brown sugar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) butter softened
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 12 oz (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 oz (397 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Karo® Light Corn Syrup
  • 8 oz (227 g) toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F to warm up.
  2. In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, blend together the flour, oats, coconut, and brown sugar at a low speed.
  3. Add in the butter and continue blending until you achieve a crumbly texture. Pour in the egg and mix thoroughly. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Set aside 1-1/2 cups of the dough for later use as a topping. Press the remaining dough evenly into the base of a lightly greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. In a separate small bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk with the corn syrup until they are well combined.
  7. Spread this mixture evenly over the hot crust.
  8. Evenly distribute the toffee bits on top.
  9. Cover with the dough you set aside earlier, spreading it evenly.
  10. Bake for another 25 to 30 minutes until it reaches a golden brown color. Allow it to cool and then slice into bars.
