Description
A delicious and crispy tofu dish bursting with flavors of chili crunch, ginger, and garlic, perfect for dinner or a hearty lunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 14 oz extra-firm tofu (drained)
- 2 tbsp chili crunch/crisp
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp fresh ginger (minced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ tsp fine sea salt
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp neutral oil (like sunflower oil)
- Sliced green onions (for serving)
- Sesame seeds (for serving)
Instructions
- Press the tofu for 30 minutes with a heavy pan to remove excess moisture.
- In a large bowl, combine chili crunch, sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sea salt to create the chili sauce.
- Unwrap the tofu and pat it dry. Slice into 1-inch cubes.
- Coat the tofu cubes with cornstarch in a large bowl, being careful not to break them.
- Heat neutral oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and add the coated tofu cubes.
- Cook without disturbing for 5-6 minutes until golden-brown crust forms.
- Flip tofu and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, tossing for even crispiness.
- Add tofu to the bowl with chili sauce and toss to coat.
- Serve immediately on a platter or over rice/noodles, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
Pressing the tofu longer will yield a crispier result. Use fresh ginger and garlic for enhanced flavor.
