Description
A delicious, family-friendly Chicken Parmesan recipe with crispy breaded chicken cutlets topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese. Perfect for weeknight dinners!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups crushed Ritz crackers
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to an even 1/2-inch thickness.
- Set up a breading station: place flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second dish, and crushed Ritz crackers mixed with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
- Dredge each chicken breast in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat thoroughly with the seasoned cracker crumbs.
- Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the breaded chicken and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Pour marinara sauce around (not over) the chicken in the skillet, then sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over each chicken breast.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake until the chicken is cooked through (165°F/74°C internal temperature) and the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15-18 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the cracker mixture.
- If you don’t have Ritz crackers, you can substitute with Italian breadcrumbs.
- Serve with pasta or a side salad for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
