- 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 cup unsalted beef stock or broth
- 1 ounce au jus gravy mix (1 packet)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced
- Fresh chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Place the steak pieces in a large bowl and toss them gently with kosher salt and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sear half of the seasoned steak pieces until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the seared steak and repeat with remaining oil and steak pieces.
- Transfer all seared steak to the Crockpot.
- Add sliced onion and garlic to the Crockpot, tossing with the steak.
- Pour beef stock over the mixture, ensuring it’s well covered.
- Sprinkle the au jus gravy mix on top and lay the unsalted butter slices evenly across the steak.
- Cover the Crockpot and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours or LOW for 6-8 hours.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread to soak up the gravy. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3 days.
