- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 cup imitation crab meat, shredded
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Soy sauce for serving
- Wasabi (optional)
- Pickled ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, combine with the vinegar mixture and let it cool.
- Place a bamboo sushi mat on a flat surface and lay a sheet of nori on top.
- Wet your hands and spread an even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
- Layer avocado, cucumber, and imitation crab across the rice.
- Roll the sushi tightly from the bottom using the mat, applying gentle pressure.
- Cut the roll into bite-sized pieces and roll in panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
- Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
Notes
Experiment with different fillings and remember to wet your hands and knife to prevent sticking while cutting.
