- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar, plus more for dusting
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup fruit preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or your choice)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 egg (for egg wash)

- Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place 1 teaspoon of cream cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese.
- Beat egg with 1 tablespoon water to create an egg wash. Brush the edges of the wonton wrappers with egg wash.
- Fold the wonton wrappers into triangles, pressing out any air bubbles and sealing the edges firmly.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F.
- Fry wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning once.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar while still warm and serve.
Notes
- You can prepare the wontons ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to fry.
- Try different fruit preserves for variety.
- These are best served warm, shortly after frying.
- For a different shape, you can fold the wontons into purses instead of triangles.
