- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: garlic powder and paprika
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, then add half of the soup mixture.
- Sprinkle one cup of cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a twist, experiment with different cheese blends and add your favorite vegetables for added nutrition.
