Instructions
- Warm peas in their juice over medium heat until hot.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour, salt, and pepper. Cook for about one minute until light golden.
- Gradually whisk in milk, removing lumps. Cook until thickened and bubbling, about five minutes.
- Drain the warmed peas and return them to the pan. Pour in the thickened milk mixture and stir in sugar.
