Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish thoroughly.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add smoked sausage, and brown for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. Melt butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Add onions and sauté until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Reduce heat and add softened cream cheese, stirring until melted.
  8. Whisk in heavy cream and let simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  9. Fold in shredded cheddar cheese until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  10. Combine broccoli and cauliflower florets with browned sausage in a large mixing bowl.
  11. Pour the cheese sauce over the veggies and mix gently.
  12. Transfer to the prepared baking dish, spreading into an even layer.
  13. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly golden.
  14. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes for extra crispiness if desired.
  15. Allow to rest before serving.
