- 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 medium onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish thoroughly.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add smoked sausage, and brown for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Melt butter in a separate saucepan over medium heat.
- Add onions and sauté until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Reduce heat and add softened cream cheese, stirring until melted.
- Whisk in heavy cream and let simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Fold in shredded cheddar cheese until the sauce is creamy and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine broccoli and cauliflower florets with browned sausage in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the veggies and mix gently.
- Transfer to the prepared baking dish, spreading into an even layer.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until bubbly and lightly golden.
- Broil for 1 to 2 minutes for extra crispiness if desired.
- Allow to rest before serving.
