  • 500 g bread flour (3¾ cups)
  • 40 g sugar (3 tbsp)
  • tsps instant yeast
  • 225 g cold water (a little less than 1 cup)
  • 115 g cold milk (½ cup)
  • 9 g sea salt (1½ tsp)
  • 25 g unsalted butter (1¾ tbsp)
  • Butter for coating the pan and brushing the bread
  • Flour for coating the pan

Instructions

  1. Mix the bread flour, sugar, sea salt, and instant yeast in a large bowl.
  2. Create a well in the center, then pour in the cold milk and cold water.
  3. Mix until all ingredients combine into a shaggy dough.
  4. Add the softened unsalted butter and mix until the dough becomes sticky and cohesive.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp cloth.

  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Once risen, brush the top with melted butter.
  12. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  13. Cool briefly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
