Description
Delightful cinnamon rolls made in an hour, combining soft dough with a rich, sugary filling and cream cheese icing.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 packet active dry yeast (0.25 ounces)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2–4 tablespoons milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Dissolve the sugar and yeast in the warm butter and milk mixture. Let it rest, covered with a towel, for ten minutes.
- Add the egg, salt, and vanilla extract once the yeast is foamy.
- Incorporate flour gradually until a soft, slightly tacky dough forms.
- Knead and form the dough into a ball, then cover it to proof in a warm place.
- Mix softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract for the filling.
- Roll out the dough, spread the filling, and roll it up tightly.
- Cut into even slices and place them in a baking pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
- Let cool on a wire rack before topping with cream cheese icing.
Notes
For uniform size rolls, pre-mark your slices before cutting. Experiment with different fillings for variety.
