Description

A delicious and crispy plant-based alternative to traditional bacon made from marinated firm tofu.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then slice it thinly.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, liquid smoke, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Marinate the tofu slices in the mixture for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the marinated tofu slices until they are crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Serve hot as a bacon alternative in your breakfast or brunch dishes.

Notes

For increased flavor, marinate the tofu for 30 minutes to an hour. Adjust the heat if the tofu doesn’t crisp up as desired.
