- 1 cup powdered sugar (120g)
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk (30-45ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Grease and flour a pound cake pan.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the granulated sugar to the butter, beating until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a small bowl, combine the milk and white vinegar; set aside for a few minutes.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and the milk mixture to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
- Mix until just combined and smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
- Allow the glaze to set before slicing and serving.
