Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cup (480 ml) s all-purpose Flour
  • 4 Tbsp (60 ml) granulated Sugar
  • 4 tsp (20 ml) Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp (3 ml) Salt
  • 1 3/4 cup (420 ml) s Milk
  • 4 Tbsp (60 ml) unsalted Butter melted
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 large Egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Create a hollow in the center and pour in the milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg.
  2. Stir the mixture until it’s smooth, though a few lumps are okay. The batter will be thick; if you prefer it thinner, add a bit more milk to reach your desired consistency.
  3. Warm a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat, and grease it with butter. Use a 1/4 cup measure to pour the batter onto the skillet, spreading it into a circular shape with the back of the measuring cup.
  4. Once the bottom is golden and bubbles form on top, use a spatula to flip the pancake and cook the other side until it turns golden brown as well.
  5. Repeat the process with the remaining batter. Serve with your choice of maple syrup, honey, or fruit, and enjoy your meal!

Notes

  • Cool the melted butter slightly before combining with milk and eggs to avoid cooking the egg earlynLet the batter sit for about 5 minutes post-mixing for optimal baking powder activationnIf using salted butter on the skillet, decrease salt in the batter to prevent excess saltiness
