Description
An elegant and flavorful dish featuring tender filet mignon topped with rich garlic herb butter.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 filet mignon steaks (6–8 ounces each)
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the garlic herb butter by mixing softened butter with minced garlic, parsley, and thyme until well combined.
- Roll into a log shape using parchment paper and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Bring filet mignon to room temperature and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear filets for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
- During the last minute of cooking, add dollops of garlic herb butter on top of the steaks.
- Remove from heat and let the filets rest under foil for five minutes before serving.
Notes
Resting the steak after cooking helps juices redistribute. Consider adjusting the herb combinations in the garlic herb butter for variation.
