Description

Discover how to create beautiful and delicious garden focaccia art loaves with our step-by-step recipe. Impress your guests with your culinary skills!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 tsp yeast (8 g)
  • 3 cups (360 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (85 g) cornmeal, plus more for dusting
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) salt
  • 1 1/3 cups (315 ml) water
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) vegetable oil (You could use a flavored oil, like rosemary, basil, garlic)

Instructions

  1. Add the ingredients you have to your bread maker and choose the manual setting. Begin the process.
  2. Check the dough as it kneads during the first few minutes, adding extra water or flour if needed to form a smooth dough ball. Ensure the dough is not sticking to the sides.
  3. Coat a sturdy baking tray with oil or spray, then dust it with cornmeal.
  4. After the bread machine’s final cycle is complete, transfer the dough onto the baking tray and shape it into a large circle, about 12 inches in diameter. Use cornmeal on your fingers to prevent sticking.
  5. Lightly coat the surface of the dough with vegetable oil. This will help hold your decorative elements in place.
  6. Arrange your decorative elements on top, pressing them gently into the dough. Add more oil if needed, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  7. Allow the dough to rise for around 30 minutes until it becomes puffy.
  8. Place the tray in an oven preheated to 425°F and bake for 10 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 350°F and continue baking for another 5 minutes until it is lightly browned. Keep an eye on it to prevent over-browning.
  9. Serve either warm or at room temperature, cutting it into wedges.

Notes

  • Experiment with different flavored oils, such as rosemary or garlic, to add a unique twist to the bread.
  • Use cornmeal for dusting and on your fingers to prevent sticking when shaping the dough.
  • Check the dough while kneading and adjust with water or flour for a smooth consistency; monitor the bread while baking to prevent over-browning.
