- 2 lbs potatoes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions
- Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and let cool slightly.
- Mash the potatoes until smooth.
- In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- Shape the dough into balls, about the size of a golf ball.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Drop the dumplings into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon.
- Serve warm with butter and gravy or alongside your favorite meat dishes.
Notes
For the smoothest consistency, use a potato ricer. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
