- 3–4 cups broccoli florets
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2–3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 8–10 cranks freshly-ground black pepper
- Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add broccoli florets and cook for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Add ground beef and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for 5-6 minutes until beef is browned and cooked through.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
- Pour the sauce over the cooked beef, stirring to combine, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Return the broccoli to the skillet, toss everything together, and season with salt to taste.
- Serve over rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
Use lean ground beef for a healthier option. Adjust red pepper flakes for spice preference.
