  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks (90 g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup mashed ripe bananas, 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup, 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Add 1 large egg to the banana mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Sift 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt into the wet ingredients.
  5. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Stir in 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
