  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender.
  3. Season the mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to ensure even seasoning.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  5. Top with half of the seasoned ground beef mixture.
  6. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and beef.
  7. In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, followed by drizzling the melted butter.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle paprika for garnish.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
