- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion until the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender.
- Season the mixture with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to ensure even seasoning.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Top with half of the seasoned ground beef mixture.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and beef.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, followed by drizzling the melted butter.
- Optionally, sprinkle paprika for garnish.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
Consider letting the casserole rest for a few minutes after baking to enhance the flavors. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses for unique flavor profiles.
