  • Author: emma
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A comforting and fluffy bread, perfect for sandwiches or enjoying fresh out of the oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing for the best texture.
