Description
A comforting and fluffy bread, perfect for sandwiches or enjoying fresh out of the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
- 1½ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add oil and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing for the best texture.
