Description

Create your own delightful homemade Asian wrappers perfect for dumplings, wontons, or spring rolls with just a few simple ingredients.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Cornstarch or arrowroot starch, for rolling and dusting

Instructions

  1. Place the flour into a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, salt, and water.
  3. Create a well in the center of the flour and pour in the wet mixture.
  4. Mix everything together with a spatula or your hands until the mixture begins to come together.
  5. Turn the dough onto the countertop and knead for 3 to 5 minutes until firm and silky smooth.
  6. Cover the dough with a damp towel and let it rest for about 1 hour.
  7. After resting, divide the dough in half and cover one half with a towel.
  8. Lightly dust your countertop with cornstarch or arrowroot starch.
  9. Roll out half of the dough as thin as possible into a rectangle.
  10. Cut the sheet into your desired shapes for wrappers.
  11. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  12. Use the wrappers immediately or freeze for later use, stacking with cornstarch or arrowroot starch in between.

Notes

Rest the dough to relax the gluten for easier rolling; use cornstarch for dusting to prevent sticking.
