Description
A delightful homemade dish combining tender beef and crisp vegetables in a savory, sweet glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of beef (flank steak or sirloin)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
Instructions
- Marinate the sliced beef by combining soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Toss the beef in the mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef slices and stir-fry until brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add sliced bell pepper and onion. Stir-fry until tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
- Combine sugar, water, and rice vinegar in a bowl, then pour this mixture into the pan with the vegetables. Cook until the sauce slightly thickens, then return the crispy beef to the pan.
- Stir everything together to coat beef and vegetables in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat and serve immediately.
Notes
Serve over rice and garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor.
