Description

A delightful homemade dish combining tender beef and crisp vegetables in a savory, sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of beef (flank steak or sirloin)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef by combining soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Toss the beef in the mixture and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef slices and stir-fry until brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add sliced bell pepper and onion. Stir-fry until tender-crisp, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Combine sugar, water, and rice vinegar in a bowl, then pour this mixture into the pan with the vegetables. Cook until the sauce slightly thickens, then return the crispy beef to the pan.
  5. Stir everything together to coat beef and vegetables in the sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve over rice and garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor.
