Description
Tender and flavorful homemade popcorn chicken, marinated in buttermilk and coated with seasoned flour for a crispy finish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the fridge.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Coat each piece in the flour mixture.
- Carefully place the chicken pieces in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
Notes
To maintain crispiness, let the chicken rest on a wire rack after frying and pair with dipping sauces like honey mustard or ranch.
