Description

Tender and flavorful homemade popcorn chicken, marinated in buttermilk and coated with seasoned flour for a crispy finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the fridge.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Coat each piece in the flour mixture.
  5. Carefully place the chicken pieces in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

To maintain crispiness, let the chicken rest on a wire rack after frying and pair with dipping sauces like honey mustard or ranch.
