- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115°F)
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Additional butter for brushing
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let stand until foamy, about 5-10 minutes.
- Mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add softened butter, egg, and yeast mixture to flour mixture.
- Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Shape into 12 rolls and place in greased baking pan.
- Let rise again until doubled (about 30 minutes).
- Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter while warm.

- You can use a bread machine or stand mixer with dough hook for mixing and kneading (5-7 minutes).
- For proper rising, ensure your yeast is fresh and environment is warm (75-85°F).
- Make ahead: Shape rolls and refrigerate overnight, letting them come to room temperature 45 minutes before baking.
- Rolls are done when golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped (internal temperature 190°F).
- For fluffy rolls, keep dough slightly tacky and avoid using too much flour.
