Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and spices.
- Add applesauce, oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before serving. For best results, let it sit overnight to allow flavors to deepen.
Notes
- This cake tastes even better the next day after the flavors have had time to meld.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
